Board Members

Peter Mark


Peter established Volunteering Gold Coast within the Gold Coast-based disability organisation FSG. He wanted to ensure community organisations had a service which recruited and supported volunteers and volunteer organisations.

Peter has been a Board member since the organisation’s inception in 1998.

In recognition of his contribution to Volunteering Gold Coast Peter was inducted as a Life Member in 2014.

Joy-Anne Fisher

Vice Chairperson

Joy-Anne has more than 35 years’ experience in accounting, payroll and HR. Inspired by her mother’s example of a lifetime of volunteering, Joy-Anne began donating her time to a youth group which continued for more than a decade.

In 2007, she commenced her association with Volunteering Gold Coast. Serving as President from 2013 to 2016, Joy-Anne now serves on the Board in the capacity of Vice President. She was made a Life Member in 2017. 

Joshua Hewitt

Board Member

Joshua joins the Board with a wealth of experience in the finance sector, as Group Financial Controller for Uni-Span group, and Senior Manager for Kern Group. He lends his expertise to the Board on various matters ensuring the success of our diversification.

A member of the Directors Institute and Chartered Accountants of Australia and New Zealand, Joshua also holds a Bachelor of Business Management, Accounting and Business Management and Human Resources.

Josie Kay


Josie has a long history of volunteering and fundraising. Currently volunteering with Beach Care, as the President of Somerset College Parents and Friends Association and assists their charity, The Somerset Literary Fund.

With a diverse career background in finance, insurance, media and medical practices, Josie has invaluable corporate experience. Josie is proud to be a part of Volunteering Gold Coast which she believes is a visionary organisation, making significant social impact to the local community.


Stephen Hughes

Board Member

Stephen is a Principal Lawyer with Franklin Athanasellis Cullen, a specialist employment, industrial and workplace relations law firm, a Director of the Middleman Group of companies and Australian Non-Executive Director of a fleet management software company, Chevin Fleet Solutions.

Stephen provides strategic advice on industrial relations, litigation, insurance and common law contracts. Stephen has over 30 years’ experience acting for a wide variety of organisations in the public, private and not-for-profit sectors both in Australia and overseas

Evan Barker

Board Member

Evan is passionate about innovation in business. Highly experienced as a Marketer, Business Development Manager, Recruitment, Operations, Client Services and Software Development. Evan has been on the Board of Directors at Volunteering Gold Coast since August 2018.

Evan has an impressive academic career. Receiving the Marilyn Jones Postgraduate Award, The Vice Chancellors List for Academic Excellence First, Internet Marketing Vice Chancellors List for Academic Excellence, The Fisher & Shaw Prize for Organisational Behaviour Deans List for Academic Excellence.

Justine Cirocco


Justine has led many community organisations. As Principal Lawyer for the Gold Coast Community Legal Advice Centre, the Robina Community Legal Centres and the Burleigh Heads State School P&C Association, establishing a Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Programme.

Currently the President of the Somerset College Parents & Friends Association, Justine is a keen volunteer at the Somerset Storyfest. Justine enjoys helping those who are unable to help themselves by contributing to the governance and strategic direction of volunteering organisations.
