How VGC Volunteers are making a difference after the 2022 Flood Crisis

Queensland and New South Wales have been hit hard after the 2022 flood crisis, and have left devastating wreckage in their wake. One positive that we have seen though, is how strongly people have come together to help.

Volunteering Gold Coast has seen over 350 volunteers put up their hands to help out. Whether it’s helping to clean up, or assisting people with emotional stress, volunteers are making a huge difference. Many people have lost everything and have no idea where to start cleaning up their homes so it’s great to see so many of our volunteers on the ground helping them with this process. We have also been transporting hot food, sandwiches, water and care packs to residents as most don’t even have access to safe drinking water or food.

Many people who have never volunteered before are now pitching in to help make a difference for flood victims and communities that have been affected. It’s amazing to see how strongly everyone comes together at times of crisis like this!

We have also seen the generosity of small business owners across the country which has been inspiring. Many are donating portions of profits or paying it forward through discounts on products and services. Volunteering Gold Coast would like to personally thank Azura Fresh for donating daily sandwiches and water so that our volunteers can continue their work.

2022 flood crisis

Volunteering Gold Coast have been helping out areas in Brisbane, Gold Coast and New South Wales, especially Lismore. We have seen first-hand just how devastating these floods were to these communities and just how much needs to be done. In the coming days and weeks, we will be continuing to send out as many volunteers that our vans can carry and will be providing help to where we are needed.
