Every Little Bit Counts

Volunteering Gold Coast is supporting Mudgeeraba Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints to help those recently victimised by the devastating bushfires.

This weekend, volunteers from the church will be travelling to Nymboida, a small town south of Grafton, to assist families who were affected by the recent bushfires.

Nymboida was one of the worst affected areas when the bushfires hit the region last November with a total of 85 homes being destroyed. A team of over 100 volunteers will assist with cleaning up leftover debris, dismantling colour bond roofs and cutting down burnt trees.

Volunteering Gold Coast Transport Services has proudly provided 10 Hiace mini buses rent free to help transport volunteers to and from Nymboida.

“The recent tragic bushfires have devastated Australians across the nation and it is important for us to come together as a community and support those who were affected the most,” said Simon Nugus, Volunteering Gold Coast CEO.

“This is a fantastic initiative from volunteers at Mudgeeraba Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and we are happy to provide any support that we can,” said Mr Nugus.

The initiative is being coordinated by Bronwyn Blair from the Church and her husband John.
