2020 is undoubtedly the year for change and Volunteers have proven to be undaunted during such uncertainty. By selflessly giving their time to help others, supporting local charities and community organisations, they have defined the ‘new normal’ by showing resilience, diversity and adapting to the constant disruption making it a part of their daily lives. Volunteering Gold Coast will reward and recognise these unsung heroes through the 2020 Gold Coast Volunteer Awards.
Nominations are now open over 6 categories:
- Gold Coast Volunteer of the Year
- Gold Coast Youth Volunteer of the Year
- Gold Coast Community Organisation of the Year
- Gold Coast Community Project of the Year
- Gold Coast Diversity and Inclusion Initiative of the Year
- Gold Coast Corporate Social Impact Award of the Year
Originally planned for earlier in the year, The Gold Coast Volunteer Awards have been set in stone and will coincide with International Volunteer Day, celebrated on 5 December.
“This year has been like no other. The Gold Coast Volunteer Awards is especially important to showcase the selfless work and the outpouring of kindness within the community from individuals, as well as recognise organisations who have generously contributed their time and resources in supporting the Gold Coast community,” said Nicole Smith, VGC General Manager – Marketing & Communications.
With the threat of Covid-19 still prominent in the community, this year’s award ceremony will be held a little differently.
“We are continuing to assess the Covid-19 situation and are looking at various alternatives to showcase the finalists and winners. As much as we would love to hold our gala dinner and celebrate with everyone; health and safety is our number one priority.” said Mrs Smith.
Nominations can be submitted at Volunteering Gold Coast’s www.volunteeringgc.org.au Nominations close 5 pm Friday 23 October 2020.
