With 30 plus years in financial services she brings a depth of experience and understanding to every client interaction. Regardless of whether you’re working or retired, Gayle specialises in helping people get the best out of their super and investments. Not to mention she is one of the few financial planners who specialises in the complex world of age care advice.

Microsoft Excel Workshop @ Volunteering Gold Coast

Presented by: Chris Rodgers, the owner of Experimax Southport. Experimax is a Network Partner for an Australian Government initiative, Be connected program. They provide free Tech workshops predominately for people over their 50’s. The store is located in Australia Fair Shopping Centre, Southport. They offer free one-on-one tech sessions in store Monday to Saturday. No appointments necessary.

Workshop Overview: Microsoft Excel is one of the most used software applications of all time. You can use Excel to enter all sorts of data and perform financial, mathematical or statistical calculations. Topics to be covered in this workshop include:

  • Range: A range in Excel is a collection of two or more cells. Formulas and Functions: A formula is an expression which calculates the value of a cell.
  • Ribbon: Excel selects the ribbon’s Home tab when you open it.
  • Workbook: A workbook is another word for your Excel file. Worksheets: A worksheet is a collection of cells where you keep and manipulate the data.
  • Format Cells: changes the appearance of a number without changing the number itself.
  • Find & Select: Learn how to use Excel’s Find, Replace and Go To Special feature.
  • Templates: Instead of creating an Excel workbook from scratch, you can create a workbook based on a template.
  • Data Validation: Use data validation in Excel to make sure that users enter certain values into a cell.
  • Keyboard Shortcuts: allow you to do things with your keyboard instead of your mouse to increase your speed.
  • Print: This chapter teaches you how to print a worksheet.
  • Share: show how to share Excel data with Word documents and other files
  • Protect: Encrypt an Excel file with a password so that it requires a password to open it.

VGC Workshop – Motivating and Managing Volunteers @ Volunteering Gold Coast

PRESENTED BY: Donna Spethman is an experience General Manager within the local and international sports industry. Having worked within sport and sporting events for over 20 years, Donna has first hand experience in managing volunteers as well as being a volunteer herself. Currently Donna is the General Manager for Members Services with UniSport Australia where she leads a small team to service UniSport members across the country. In addition to this role, she is also Secretary General for the Oceania University Sports Association and a part of the Education Committee for the International University Sports Federation.

VGC Workshop – Mental Health First Aid @ Volunteering Gold Coast

PRESENTED BY:   Paige Gaudry has worked in the mental health field for 12 years and has established a good reputation in the community through both paid and volunteer roles in the sector. She has experience in delivering mental health training to groups of people including suicide intervention skills.

WORKSHOP OVERVIEW: 
Mental Health First Aid is associated with improved knowledge of mental illnesses, their treatment and appropriate first aid strategies, and confidence in providing first aid to individuals with mental illness. It also assists with decreasing stigma.

Mental health affects 20% of Australians, with 1 in 5 people experiencing a mental illness within any 1 year. Almost half (45%) of Australians will experience a mental illness within their lifetime.

This presentation will cover:
– The latest research in the mental health field
– The 3 key actions for helping someone experiencing thoughts of suicide
– Working through complex mental health first aid interactions
– Practice mental health first aid skills training
