National Volunteer Week 2023

The Change Makers, this year celebrating the powerful impact volunteers make in supporting individuals, communities and the nation.

National Volunteer Week is Australia’s largest annual celebration of volunteering and is held from 15 – 21 May 2023. This year’s theme is; The Change Makers. Together through volunteering, we are changing communities for the better.

To all the volunteers out there, we want to thank you for the incredible work you do each and every day. Your efforts don’t go unnoticed, and you are significantly impacting your communities and beyond.

See below for how we are celebrating this year’s National Volunteer Week.

Milestone Awards and Volunteer Recognition

The Gold Coast office had a delightful day celebrating our incredible volunteers and the remarkable milestones they achieved during their time at VGC.

We are incredibly grateful for the dedication and time our volunteers have devoted to their community, with some of them being part of our team for over 15 years.

To honour their commitment, all volunteers who served with VGC in the past year and achieved significant year milestones were recognized and rewarded for their valuable contributions and efforts with VGC.

Robina Town Centre X VGC

We were lucky enough to showcase our Accessible Beaches program at Robina Town Centre during National Volunteer Week to spread the word about our services and to get more people onboard to volunteer.

We also want to thank Robina Town Centre and Event Cinemas Robina for hosting a free movie night for our volunteers and members to watch the newest Marvel movie “Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol 3”. It was great to see over 140 turn up and enjoy a night off whilst also acknowledging volunteer week.

Volunteer & Organisation Profiles

We’re excited to share with you the inspiring profiles that highlight the extraordinary individuals and remarkable organisations that are dedicated to the power of volunteering.

They come from all walks of life, representing a wide range of backgrounds, ages, and experiences. Some may have overcome personal obstacles, while others have chosen to dedicate their lives to a specific cause. Yet, they all share a common thread: their unwavering commitment to making a difference.

Burleigh Heads Church of Christ

What a way to finish National Volunteer Week! We put on our Corporate Volunteering hats with a team of Senior Managers and Board Members to help out the amazing Burleigh Heads Church of Christ. Each week volunteers provide groceries, a BBQ, clothes, coffee, and a beautiful place to be with others.

Orange Sky Australia is also onsite to help wash clothes and provide warm showers for people who need them.
