Improving quality of life through companionship

The Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme, formerly known as the Community Visitors Scheme, aims to address loneliness and isolation among Home Care Package recipients and Residential Aged Care recipients by connecting them with a new friend for weekly visits. Volunteering Gold Coast receives funding from the Australian Government to run the Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme in our community.

Many older Queenslanders become isolated because of their geographic location or their family circumstances. We’re here to help by finding companionship for you or your loved one, focusing on shared interests and compatibility.

Why our customers love the Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme

  • Improve quality of life for the recipient and the volunteer on many levels
  • Combat loneliness and isolation that is very common in nursing homes and residential homes of older Australians
  • Social interaction and engagement, which is life-changing for many
  • Funded by the Australian Government so there is no cost to recipients

Your companion will

  • Sit down with you and discuss interests and hobbies
  • Provide exceptional service, respect, kindness and care
  • Have full police checks and induction before meeting with you
  • Not provide personal assistance, including cleaning, personal care, nursing and so on.
