Gold Coast Volunteer Awards Rescheduled to International Volunteer Day

Volunteering Gold Coast had made the decision to reschedule the 2020 Gold Coast Volunteer Awards, which was due to be held Friday 22 May to celebrate National Volunteer Week.

This decision comes following the recent outbreak of Coronavirus (COVID-19) and the Federal Government’s imposed ban on non-essential indoor gatherings of more than 100 people.

“Volunteering Gold Coast takes the recent outbreak of COVID-19 very seriously and is taking all necessary approaches to ensure the safety of our staff, member organisations and members of the community,” said Simon Nugus, CEO of Volunteering Gold Coast.

“The aim of the Gold Coast Volunteer Awards is to celebrate volunteerism and to bring the community together. But during this time of uncertainty it is imperative that we reschedule the event at a time that is safe for everyone,” said Mr. Nugus.

The Gold Coast Volunteer Awards will now be held in the beginning of December to celebrate International Volunteer Day. All nominations that have already be submitted will still be eligible for the awards.

“We have put nominations on hold and are planning to reopen nominations in October. All nominations that have already been submitted will still be eligible and will not need to be resubmitted,” said Mr. Nugus.

More information about the rescheduled Gold Coast Volunteer Awards will be announced soon.
