On Friday, December 1st, Volunteering Gold Coast held the annual Gold Coast Volunteer Awards to acknowledge the remarkable efforts of local organisations and individuals who have been contributing outstanding volunteer work across the Gold Coast. Among seven categories, the Robina Town Centre Organisation of the Year award celebrates an organisation that creates positive impact and supports the Gold Coast community through volunteerism.
The St Johns Crisis Centre was named the winner, with Radio Lollipop and Youth Music Venture also being acknowledged as finalists. Congratulations to all the finalists for their achievements!
Every day St John’s Crisis Centre provides food, clothing and other essential services for Gold Coasters in their time of crisis. Located in the heart of Surfers Paradise, the organisation provides food, clothing, and other services to assist Gold Coasters during times of crisis. Their non-denominational approach to charity work makes them accessible to all members of the community, regardless of their religion or belief system.
Services provided by St John’s Crisis Centre include lunch service (free lunches), welfare support, clothes washing services, assistance with Centrelink, physiotherapy, counselling and many other essential services. The organisation’s tireless work is much needed, and their efforts have not gone unnoticed. In the last year alone, they provided over 33,000 meals to people in need, and this was made possible thanks to the generous spirit of our community.
It’s amazing to see how much good work can be accomplished when people come together to help those in need. St John’s Crisis Centre’s services are made possible by the kind support from individuals and organisations in the community. Their work is a true testament to the power of giving and the positive impact it can have on the lives of others.
