On Friday, December 1st, Volunteering Gold Coast hosted a wonderful celebration honouring the local organisations and individuals who have been contributing outstanding volunteer work across the Gold Coast. The Diversity and Inclusion Initiative, among seven categories, recognises the diversity and inclusion efforts of an organisation on the Gold Coast that has made significant impacts on the broader Gold Coast community through their embracement of diversity.
Out of three finalists, Journey 2 Learn was announced as the winner of the award, with Raba Urban Farm and Gold Coast Recreation and Sport being recognised as finalists. Journey 2 Learn is an extraordinary organisation that is committed to promoting diversity, equality, and inclusion. Their mission is to support neurodiverse children on their educational journey by providing the necessary resources and tools to integrate seamlessly into mainstream education. Educators also benefit from the valuable inclusion training offered by Journey 2 Learn which promotes inclusion in our education system. This initiative has a positive impact on the entire school community, creating a more inclusive educational environment that benefits both students and faculty. By ensuring that neurodiverse children are not left behind and that educators are equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to support them, Journey 2 Learn is helping to build a more inclusive education system.
It’s truly inspiring to see the dedication and commitment of Journey 2 Learn to foster diversity and inclusion. They have earned the 2023 Gold Coast Diversity and Inclusion Initiative of the Year Award, which is a testament to their incredible work.
