Joy-Anne has been dedicated to supporting Volunteering Gold Coast. Inspired by her mother’s example of a lifetime of volunteering, Joy-Anne began donating her time to a youth group which continued for more than a decade.
In 2007, she commenced her association with Volunteering Gold Coast. Serving as President from 2013 to 2016, Joy-Anne now serves on the Board in the capacity of Vice President. She was made a Life Member in 2017.
How long have you been a volunteer board member with Volunteering Gold Coast?
I believe towards the end of 2007
What drove you to become a volunteer board member for Volunteering Gold Coast?
Volunteering has been part of my life, my parents volunteered with different organisations and when they moved to the Gold Coast my mother volunteered for VGC. Giving back to the community is always a pleasure it is energising and motivates with humility; it is important to me.
In one word best describe what Volunteering Gold Coast means to you?
One word does not do it for me, “Engagement with People” and “Connecting the Community”
Do you volunteer anywhere else? I am connected with another two small organisations with involvement in supporting the homeless and youth at risk.
